Leeds United in ‘advanced talks’ with Premier League midfielder

Leeds United are supposedly in ‘advanced talks’ with Brighton and Hove Albion over a potential deal for Northern Ireland International midfielder Oliver Norwood, according to the Sun.

The 27-year-old will supposedly cost a fee of around £1.5m and would see the midfielder move to Elland Road as Leeds United’s ninth summer signing.

Norwood has played for a number of promotion-chasing Championship clubs over the past few season, including Fulham, (then) Brighton and Hove Albion and Reading.

The Northern Irish midfielder has also featured in the past for Huddersfield Town and began his career at Manchester United – highlighting his clear potential and ability.

The central-midfielder has 53 caps for Northern Ireland and is one of the more composed, assured midfielders to have played his trade in the Championship over the past few years.

Norwood is no stranger to promotion-chasing success with the midfielder helping Brighton to win promotion into the Premier League and also contributing as a large part of Fulham’s success in the division last season, in which the Whites also won promotion to the Premier League in the play-off final at Wembley over Aston Villa due to a Tom Cairney goal.

Given the fact that Norwood has a wealth of Championship experience, he would arrive at Elland Road as a ready-made upgrade on Eunan O’Kane who has been part of the Whites midfield over the past few seasons and would really Leeds United’s intent to make a push for promotion during the coming months.

If Leeds can pull this deal off, it would be an excellent addition to their squad.
