FC Porto and Benfica keen on Stoke City forward

FC Porto and Benfica are both keen on Stoke City’s Bojan, according to journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter.

The Potters may face a battle to hold onto their Spanish forward amid interest from some big clubs. His future has always been in doubt since their relegation to the Championship last season.

Bojan has spent the last two seasons out on loan at Bundesliga side Mainz 05 and La Liga outfit Alaves and could now make the move to Portugal.

He started his career at Barcelona and burst onto the scene at the Camp Nou at a young age. He made his first-team debut for the Spanish giants at the age of 17 in 2007 and went onto play 163 games for them before moving to Roma in €12 million.

After spending two years at Roma, he had a loan spell at AC Milan before Barcelona re-signed him in 2013. However, they immediately loaned him out to Ajax for the 2013/14 season ahead of selling him to Stoke in July 2014. Bojan has since played 62 games for the Potters.

His time at Stoke has been cut short by recent loan spells at Mainz and Alaves but he could be a key player for them in the Championship this season. He came off the bench for the Potters in their opening day defeat to Leeds United at Elland Road on Sunday.

If kept fit, Bojan could be a huge player for Gary Rowett’s side and they should aim to keep hold of him amid interest from Porto and Benfica.
