Hull City still working on loan move for Sunderland midfielder- Hopeful of deal

Hull City are still working on a loan deal for Sunderland midfielder Lee Cattermole, according to the Yorkshire Post.

The Tigers are hoping to reach an agreement with the League One side with regards to the arrangement on paying his high wages and get a deal done.

Hull are looking to add some more faces to their squad ahead of the transfer deadline on Thursday and signing a midfielder is priority for them. They lost influential players such as David Meyler and Seb Larsson in the summer so signing Lee Cattermole would fill in the gap nicely for the Tigers.

Nigel Adkins’ side look to have missed on Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Oliver Norwood after seeing two bids rejected by the Premier League side so now looked to have set their sights on landing Cattermole.

The 30-year-old has played for Sunderland since 2009 and has racked up 225 appearances for the Black Cats. However, he has not been able to prevent them two relegations in the past two seasons and his future at the club is now in doubt now they are in League One.

Cattermole started his career at Middlesbrough and rose through the youth ranks at the Riverside. He went onto play 91 games for them in the Premier League before leaving for Wigan Athletic in July 2008 for a fee of around £3.5 million.

After impressing for the Latics in the 2008/09 campaign, Sunderland paid £6 million in August 2009 to bring him to the Stadium of Light. He has been there ever since and has gained a reputation of being a tough tackling and committed midfielder, which is what Hull need.
