Stoke City and Middlesbrough amongst sides monitoring Bournemouth midfielder

Middlesbrough and Stoke City have emerged as just two of the sides monitoring Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter, as reported by The Sun. Premier League sides Newcastle and Cardiff are also interested.

Harry Arter has been a vital part of Bournemouth’s side since joining the Cherries from Woking in 2010, but now could be surplus to requirements. Championship sides Middlesbrough and Stoke are interested in signing the Republic of Ireland midfielder, but face competition from the Premier League.

Newcastle United and Cardiff City are also reportedly keen on Arter, and he could prefer a move to a fellow-Premier League side to continue playing at the highest level of English football.

Arter only played 13 times last season after falling out of favour with manager Eddie Howe. With the Irishman wanting to get playing time under his belt, he may look for a move away from the Vitality Stadium.

Bournemouth have just made the £25 million signing of Colombian international midfielder Jefferson Lerma, and could have pushed Arter even further down the pecking order.

Arter signed for just £40, 000 and if the 28-year old is to leave the club, it is believed that Bournemouth will make a huge profit, with the asking price set at around £10 million.

The central midfielder would strengthen each of the four clubs linked, both Stoke and Middlesbrough would benefit from Arter’s Championship experience, having lifted the Championship trophy with Bournemouth in 2015.

Equally, he has spent the majority of the last three seasons as first-choice in the Premier League, and Cardiff and Newcastle could take confidence in the player given his top flight experience.
