Leeds United looking to beat Hull City & Swansea City to sign Northern Ireland international

Leeds United are looking to beat Hull City and Swansea City to sign Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Oliver Norwood, according to the Yorkshire Post.

The 27-year-old has become available this summer by the Premier League side and value him at around £1.5 million.

Hull City boss, Nigel Adkins, worked with Norwood at Reading and has been very keen to bring him to the KCOM Stadium this summer. However, the Tigers have seen two bids rejected for him so far in this transfer window.

Swansea City are also showing an interest. They got off to a great start to the season on Saturday by beating Sheffield United 2-1 at Bramall Lane but do need some more signings. The Swans may have to see what happens in regards to Sam Clucas before signing another central midfielder.

This leaves Leeds United, who like Swansea, have started life in the 2018/19 season in impressive fashion. Their new boss, Marcelo Bielsa, is eager to sign a couple more players to further put his own stamp on the Whites and Oliver Norwood is a potential signing.

The Northern Ireland international has got bags of experience in the Championship and would give Leeds another option and depth in midfield. He has been promoted twice in the past two seasons having helped Brighton go up in 2017 and then spent last season on loan at Slavisa Jokanovic’s Fulham.

Norwood has also previously played for Reading and Huddersfield Town in the second tier. He has genuine quality in the Championship and would be a shrewd signing by Leeds.
