Charlton Athletic centre-back Patrick Bauer’s latest tweet is an encouraging sign for Blackburn Rovers in their pursuit for the defender.

German centre-back Patrick Bauer tweeted out this afternoon that his Charlton Athletic future is in doubt, which is good news for Blackburn Rovers.

Charlton Athletic manager Lee Bowyer said that Bauer would be staying at The Valley, after they knocked bad Rovers’ £300,000 offer. He told the South London Press:

“Pat is not going, The owner told Blackburn and Bolton what he wants for Pat and they are not going to pay what we are asking.

“Pat knows that. Pat has been offered a new deal and he is thinking about that at the moment.

“But on Saturday I had an email from the owner saying that Pat is staying. He said that Pat is a massive part of our defence and we need to keep him because he improves our chances of promotion.”

However, despite what Duchatelet told Bowyer, Bauer revealed on Twitter he had “not been offered a new contract”.

Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers will be keen to make the most of Bauer’s contract situation, and may look to complete a deal before the deadline in just three days. Bauer said that he will “give my everything” to the club until he leaves, but the club may now be keen to cash in on the German instead of him leaving on a free at the end of the season.

Addicks manager Lee Bowyer will be keen to keep Bauer for the 2018/19 season, as he looks to carry them to promotion. However, Tony Mowbray has got his eye on defensive reinforcements, and is a big fan of the 25-year-old.
