Woods, Swansea City set to improve offer for Brentford midfielder

Swansea City set to improve offer for Brentford midfielder

Swansea City are set to improve their previous £6m offer for Brentford’s Ryan Woods according to a report from Sky Sports News.

The 24-year-old midfielder, who has also played as a full-back in the past, started his career in the Walsall youth system before moving on to Shrewsbury Town where he made his competitive debut. He impressed at the Shrews and quickly became one of their best players which attracted the interest of Brentford who snapped him up for a rumoured £1m in 2015. He has since made over 100 appearances for the Bees.

Woods continued his form from Shrewsbury at Brentford and now he has been noticed once again with Swansea having an interest in signing him which has been around since the start of the summer. They have made bids for him already, with reports suggesting they are around the £6m mark, but they have been rejected as Brentford look to keep one of their key players. But this report does state that if Brentford were to receive a bid worth £7m, they would accept.

And Swansea may well have made that bid as they have now improved on that previous offer. They are very keen on signing the Norton Canes-born man, even keeping their Number 4 shirt free for him, and if this bid is worth £7m, this could well be the one that gets him to move to South Wales. They got off to a bright start this season with a win over Sheffield United and signing a player like Woods can only help their chances of promotion.
