Sheffield United miss out on Ipswich Town striker – Middlesborough and Derby closing in on a deal

Sheffield United miss out on Ipswich Town striker Martyn Waghorn with Middlesborough and Derby closing in on a deal, according to Gazette Live.

Sheffield United miss out on Ipswich Town striker Martyn Waghorn with Middlesborough and Derby closing in on a deal, according to reports.

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder says that the club couldn’t agree personal terms with Martyn Waghorn from Ipswich Town.

Middlesborough had agreed a fee with Ipswich Town for the 28-year-old striker , but Derby have matched that bid and become favourites to sign the frontman.

It seems like Derby County are the favourites to sign Martyn Waghorn, as reports say he is expected at Derby’s training ground today ahead of completing a move.

East Anglian Daily Times claims that Derby will pay £5m up-front with the deal potentially rising to £7.5m.

Ipswich Town boss Paul Hurst said: “Whether or not it is quite the valuation we really feel…Ultimately, as I’ve said from the start, we’ve got to make decisions that are best for this football club. Not everyone is going to agree with them – I understand that – but people are not in my shoes or the owner’s shoes and understand all the intricacies around people’s situations.”

“Without rushing it, the sooner it is concluded the better. While I understand the questions, and respect them, I want to be talking about the players out on the pitch and that are part of this squad. That’s why I will be pleased when the window is closed so we can concentrate on that rather than speculating about who is coming in or going.”
