Middlesbrough, Wolves set to complete £20 million deal for Middlesbrough’s Adama Traore

Wolves set to complete £20 million deal for Middlesbrough’s Adama Traore

According to Sky Sports, Wolves are reportedly set to complete the £20 million signing of Middlesbrough winger Adama Traore.

Earlier in the transfer window, Wolves were not prepared to bid more than £12 million for the Middlesbrough man, but have since had a change of heart. The deal is believed to be £10 million up front, with a further £10 million paid in instalments.

Traore has a release clause within his current Middlesbrough contract of £18 million, which means if any club are to bid this amount for the player, he is free to discuss personal terms. With Wolves now set to pay above the release clause, albeit in instalments, Middlesbrough have been left with no choice but to allow Traore to talk to Wolves ahead of the move.

The Spanish under-21 international has been an integral part of the Boro team, especially last season as he scored five goals and registered 10 assists in the Championship. When Tony Pulis took over at the club in December, Traore quickly became the star man, and was the key to propelling Middlesbrough up the table, and achieving a fifth placed finish at the end of the season.

The winger will undergo a medical on Monday, and will join up with his new teammates before Wolves’ Premier League curtain raiser against Everton on Saturday evening.

Wolves have already spent big this transfer window, bringing in the likes of Diogo Jota, Benik Afobe and Leo Bonatini. Traore is set to become their 11th summer buy, and would become their record signing.
