NEWS: Aston Villa target hoping for Chelsea stay

Aston Villa target, Tammy Abraham, has said that he is hopeful of staying at Chelsea this season.

The 20-year-old striker, who was capped twice by England last year, has been heavily involved for The Blues during pre-season, featuring in all four of their matches.

On Sunday, Abraham was a substitute as Chelsea were beaten 2-0 by Manchester City during the FA Community Shield at Wembley Stadium.

Despite reported interest from Aston Villa, he told the Chelsea Presser Network that he is happy at Chelsea and has no intentions of leaving., when discussing his future.

“For me, hopefully if it’s at Chelsea,” said Abraham.

“My main focus right now is staying at Chelsea and obviously I’m here right now and playing and I couldn’t really ask for more.”

“I would like to remain in the first team and do the best I can and get a couple of goals to my name as well and see where it goes from there and hopefully lift a trophy at the end of the season.”

Aston Villa’s current striking options include Scott Hogan and Jonathan Kodjia, but it is believed that Steve Bruce is keen to add Abraham to the squad before the summer transfer window shuts on Thursday afternoon.

Abraham has previous experience in the Championship whilst on loan with Bristol City during the 2016/17 campaign, where the young English forward netted 26 times in 48 matches in all competitions.

Villa begin their league campaign this evening against Hull City at the KCOM Stadium and it will be the first time since 1975 that they will be competing in the second-tier for a third consecutive season.
