Blackburn Rovers have joined the race for Hibernian midfielder John McGinn, according to the Scottish Daily Record.
John McGinn has been highly sought after this transfer window, and another club has entered the race to secure his signing before the deadline in just four days. Blackburn Rovers have now been linked with a move for McGinn as Hibs hope to hold onto their star man.
Celtic have made several bids for the midfielder, and are refusing to place another bid for the Hibs man, as they don’t want to go over their £2m valuation of McGinn, according to the Scottish Daily Record. BBC Sports reported yesterday that Brighton have now entered the race for the 23-year-old, and talks have been held between the clubs.
However, Celtic have been the only club to lodge a bid for the midfielder despite interest from Derby, Brighton and now Blackburn. Brighton apparently will not be making a bid for McGinn, paving the way for Blackburn to make a bid for the Scotsman.
Interesting to see #Rovers linked north of the border with a move for Hibs midfielder John McGinn. Was given the impression earlier in the summer a central midfielder may be the big money signing, but then drifted away. Could be one to watch.

Lancashire Telegraph journalist Rich Sharpe tweeted that Rovers could be on the lookout for a new centre-midfielder, after it was hinted that they could be willing to spend big for one earlier in the window. However, it seems they’re set to spend big on a striker, with Adam Armstrong close to completing a move to Ewood Park for £1.75m, rising to £3m.
Young midfielder Lewis Travis has broken into the first team throughout pre-season, but it seems manager Tony Mowbray is keen to bring in a senior midfielder to help them in their efforts to retain their Championship place this season.
