Ipswich Town boss Paul Hurst has quashed rumours surrounding a potential exit from Portman Road for Jonas Knudsen, according to the East Anglian Daily Times.
The Danish defender produced another impressive performance as the Blues salvaged a 2-2 draw with Blackburn Rovers.
Knudsen was at no fault for either of the two goals Town conceded against the Lancashire outfit. The first saw an uncontested freekick take a fortuitous deflection off Janoi Donacien and fall to Danny Graham who swept home. The second came as a result of Jordan Spence missing a tackle, Donacien being dragged out of position and the midfield not reacting quickly enough as Bradley Dack was left to strike beyond Bartosz Bialkowski.
However, with the Dane’s impressive performances last term leading to a World Cup call-up, Sky Bet Championship rivals Stoke City have been keeping a close eye on the full-back.
Town supporters began to assume the worst when Knudsen walked around the Stadium after the game, applauding supporters in all four stands of Portman Road, although Blues boss Paul Hurst quickly responded to the rumours.
“I don’t know if that’s unusual or any different to what he’d normally do,” said Hurst. “What I would say is that, to my knowledge, that’s not going to be happening.
“Every time I’ve watched Jonas and, having spoken to people about him, he’s a fully committed player. I certainly didn’t;t see anything in his performance today to suggest he’s got anything else on his mind. If he has then full credit to him for his performance today.
“I went and clapped the fans and I’m not planning on leaving!”
