Birmingham City fans react as they concede late equaliser against Norwich City

Birmingham City fans were left disappointed as they conceded a late equaliser to draw 2-2 with Norwich City in their Sky Bet Championship opener.

With the Blues being placed under a transfer embargo, they came into this season in a weird position as they still want to challenge for the play-offs despite that. Norwich were not far off the top six last time and would only need some stronger runs of form to finish in those positions this time.

After a goalless first half, Birmingham stepped up to take the lead. Jacques Maghoma reacted quickest when there was a rebound in the box and he made the most of it to score the opener. But as the game was nearing its end, Norwich were able to equalise when Onel Hernandez struck on the 83rd minute.

Most of the time when you take the lead in the 89th minute, you go on to win the game. So when Viv Solomon-Otabor was able to finish from close range at that time point, most Blues fans thought they had sealed all three points. But they were to be denied. In the 94th minute, Hernandez once again caused problems in their defence and was able to score to make it 2-2 and force Birmingham to only get a point out of this match.

While there was plenty to like for Birmingham, many were gutted they weren’t able to hold on for the win and thought about the things that could have been if mistakes hadn’t been made earlier in the game.
