Leeds now in pole position for another of Guardiola’s Manchester City starlets

Leeds United may be making a few more moves in the transfer market as clubs scurry to make their squads more healthy. In terms of the season starting it’s too late, the Championship starts tonight and the gruelling campaign is upon us, but there are a few days left to do business. Leeds want Lukas Nmecha, another of Manchester City’s talented youngsters.

As Marcelo Bielsa was deep in discussions with Leeds United the fanbase began to discuss possible links. Deals were already being done by fans and the links between Bielsa and some of his fellow coaches seemed to be enhanced. Last week saw the first actual link in place, Pep Guardiola allowing Leeds United to take highly rated winger Jack Harrison, something that Guardiola convinced the player to do, playing under Bielsa the education he needs.

Today sees that link seemingly grow stronger, German born English striker Lukas Nmecha, a player who Swansea and West Brom have been trying to sign, head closer to a Leeds move than the others. In the exclusive, Nixon reveals that Guardiola would see Nmecha joins Leeds, again, Bielsa the winning factor. Leeds have already signed some talented youngsters on loan aside from Jack Harrison, Lewis Baker and Jamal Blackman both arriving from Chelsea.

The deal would add some more competition to a thin, but much stronger squad this season. If Nmecha did arrive then he would be part of a three-way battle for the strikers role at the club, one currently held by Kemar Roofe and one that Patrick Bamford is set to be the number one choice as. The side lacked goals last season after the departure of Chris Wood and Nmecha would bring something very different to the options currently at the club.
