Bolton Wanderers are eyeing up a move for Ipswich Town and former Preston North End striker Joe Garner, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Bolton Wanderers are eyeing up a move for Ipswich Town and former Preston North End striker Joe Garner, altering missing out on Charlie Wyke to Sunderland.

Alan Nixon tweeted: “BOLTON. Lee Camp loan move from Cardiff deffo a live issue. Buy for Joe Garner still a thing. But Ipswich want one in. Or even two.”

According to The Sun, Bolton are preparing a £500,000 bid for the Blackburn-born forward who is keen on a return to the north of England after three years at Preston North End.

About Joe Garner – 

The striker signed a three-year deal with Ipswich Town prior to the beginning of the 2017/18 campaign having joined from Rangers for an undisclosed fee.

Garner has previously had spells with Preston North End, Rangers, Nottingham Forest, Blackburn, Carlisle, Scunthorpe, Watford and Huddersfield Town, but Ipswich Town are the latest side to secure the services of the 29-year old forward.

Bolton Wanderers have also missed out on Antonee Robinson. Fellow Championship side Wigan Athletic have signed USA left-back Antonee Robinson on a season-long loan from Everton. Robinson, 20, spent the 2017-18 campaign on loan at Bolton, for whom he made 30 appearances in the second tier.

“Left-back is an area we are a little short in and Antonee fills that void nicely, albeit he knows he has to work hard to make that position his own for us,” said Wigan boss Paul Cook.
