Ipswich Town complete signing of Premier League midfielder

Ipswich Town have signed midfielder Tayo Edun from Premier League side Fulham.

Following on from previously weak reports linking the 20-year-old to a move to Portman Road, the defensive midfielder has signed for the Suffolk side.

Edun appeared on four occasions for the Cottagers last season – twice in the League Cup towards the beginning of the campaign and twice in the Sky Bet Championship in November.

Earlier this summer the Premier League midfielder was on-trial in the USA, appearing for MLS side Portland Timbers. The left-footed player has represented England from U17 to U20 level and was a team-mate of Andre Dozzell and Trevoh Chalobah when the Young Three Lions won the 2017 European U19 Championships.

Despite being sent off in the final, Edun was named as part of the Team of the Tournament following on from a number of impressive performances on the world stage.

With a loan move to Portman Road being completed today, it would leave Blues boss Paul Hurst under a tight locks as a result of the League’s loan rules.

Sky Bet Championship sides are allowed a maximum of five loan players in their matchday squads. Should the Premier League midfielder complete a move to Portman Road, he will become the Blues’ third loan signing.

Also on temporary deals at the Blues are Trevoh Chalobah (Chelsea) and Janoi Dancien (Accrington Stanley), although it is understood there are special measures in place for Dancien’s temporary switch to be made permanent once his work permit issues are resolved.
