Zanzala, Accrington Stanley bring back Derby County striker on permanent deal

Accrington Stanley bring back Derby County striker on permanent deal

Accrington Stanley have signed Offrande Zanzala from Derby County for an undisclosed fee as confirmed by the club website.

The 21-year-old striker, who was born in the Republic of Congo, came through the Derby academy but never made an appearance for them. He has however made a few appearances while out loan at teams such as Stevenage and Chester though he didn’t make a big impact at either side. He moved on loan to Accrington last season and made six appearances, scoring one goal.

And now Zanzala will be spending more time at Accrington after signing a two-year contract with them. With Accrington facing the possibility of losing Kayden Jackson this season with Ipswich Town reportedly interested in signing him, they needed a new striker and with the club already knowing Zanzala well from his loan spell there last season, they were happy to move again for him and sign him up on a permanent deal.

Following the move, Zanzala said: “When I came here I loved every bit of it, training and bonding with the lads,”

“I was made to feel welcome from the very first day I came here last season and to have been offered a permanent contract is an offer that I simply couldn’t turn down.”

“It’s something that I’ve been thinking about for a long time. I experienced some great times with the lads and the coaching staff and it’s good to be back seeing them again.”

“I just want to make more great memories off the back of last season, great memories like winning the league and scoring my first league goal. The journey which we went on last season, the incredible run, to make that mark was vital for me. It’s a goal that I’ll never forget.”

“I want to do the same this year and more, to be the best that I can be. I’m hoping to do well this season by scoring goals, cracking on and hitting the ground running.”
