Middlesbrough manager Tony Pulis reveals Adama Traore has been offered a new contract

In a question and answer session with fans last night, Middlesbrough manager Tony Pulis revealed that the in-demand Adama Traore has been offered a new contract.

Although there has been no update as to whether Adama Traore is going to sign the proposed contract, the offer remains on the table for the Spanish under-21 international. The contract looks to be an attempt to fend off interest from the Premier League, with Huddersfield Town and Wolves circling.

Traore has generated a lot of attention from clubs from the top flight, following an impressive season with Middlesbrough in the Championship. The winger scored five goals and registered 10 assists for the Teessiders, and was a huge part of Boro’s successes last season, as they reached the Play Offs.

The Spaniard’s current contract features a release clause, meaning if anyone bids £18 million for Traore, he is free to discuss personal terms with that club. Wolves seems the most likely destination, after the Premier League new boys tabled a bid of £12 million that was ultimately rejected.

If a new contract is signed, it is unclear whether a higher release clause will be included, which could see off interest from suitors Wolves and Huddersfield. Whether he stays at Middlesbrough or moves away from the club, Traore’s future is up in the air at the moment, and either outcome could be a possibility.

The saga is set to continue to the final day at this rate, with Wolves tabling a bid, retracting their interest and then now going back in for Traore. It will be interesting to see where the 22-year old plays his football next season.
