Middlesbrough youngster hoping to be given a first-team chance this season – Yeovil Town to miss out?

Middlesbrough midfielder Lewis Wing has been impressive in pre-season, and has said he is hoping for a first-team chance this season in an interview in The Evening Gazette.

Lewis Wing has been one of Middlesbrough’s stand out players in many pre-season friendlies so far, and could be given a chance in the first-team in the upcoming Championship campaign.

Yeovil Town were reportedly interested in re-signing Wing on another season long loan, after spending last season at Huish Park. But his performances for Boro have put him in contention to play for the Teessiders next season.

Glovers boss Darren Way spoke out about Wing earlier in the transfer window, and when asked if he would be interested in bringing the 23-year old back to the club he was certainly keen to do so.

“100 per cent. 110 per cent” he said. “I’m hoping Tony (Pulis) can perhaps do me a real big favour. All I know is he’s a fantastic player and (if) added to that collection of players out there tonight, things are looking good.”

Wing seemed hopeful that he would be given a chance for Boro however, the midfielder said, “I’ve had a good pre-season so hopefully I’m asking questions.”

Although he would like to be handed a first-team opportunity at Middlesbrough, he is not eliminating the possibility of leaving the club on another loan deal.

“I want to see what happens here first but I’m not ruling out a loan,” he said. “I’m just going to see what happens in the next couple of weeks.”
