“Announce promotion” – Sheffield United fans react to the signing of Kean Bryan

Sheffield United have signed England youth international and former Oldham Athletic loanee Kean Bryan from Manchester City on a free transfer, confirmed by the club.

Kean Bryan has become Chris Wilder’s fifth summer signing, Bryan has put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal at Bramall Lane. He joins on a free transfer, although Manchester City have a sell-on clause on any future transfer fee.

Manchester-born Bryan began his career with City at the age of 11 and went on to captain the club’s development squad.

Bryan spent last season on loan at Oldham, making 32 appearances, and played six times for Bury in 2016-17.

Kean Bryan, who is aged 21, was named Young Player of the Year by Oldham Athletic after impressing hugely despite the club’s eventual relegation to League Two. He started as a box-to-box midfielder but transformed into a centre back, the youngster likes to use his strength in possession, vision and passing ability to influence the game from the centre of the park.

Chris Wilder sees huge potential and versatility in his latest signing. He said: “We watched Kean throughout last season and he’s got a great pedigree with England and Manchester City.

“It’s a fantastic deal for us, Kean is naturally left-footed, he can play left centre-half, left-back and in midfield and he is a very good technical player we think we can develop.

“He played over 30 games at Oldham which will have aided his development and it’s important that we’ve kept the squad balanced with permanent signings and loans.”
