Adama Traore saga to go to the wire – Conflicting reports suggest Wolves are ready to persevere

Reports today suggested that Middlesbrough’s Adama Traore was no longer on the radar of Wolves manager Nuno. However, conflicting reports by Pete O’Rourke say they are ready to pursue a deal for the Spaniard.

Earlier on The 72, we reported that Wolves had turned their attention to other targets, after they were not willing to trigger Middlesbrough’s release clause for Traore. The clause means if Wolves meet the asking price of £18 million, they are free to discuss personal terms.

Wolves were only reportedly willing to offer £12 million for the Spanish under-21 international, but now conflicting reports in an exclusive by Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke suggest Wolves are ready to persevere and table a bid of £18 million to meet Boro’s asking price.

Adama’s shoulder injury was a stumbling block in negotiations according to O’Rourke. The winger suffered a dislocated shoulder in Middlesbrough’s pre-season friendly against Sunderland and Nuno was awaiting to see the extent of the injury.

However, despite Traore’s injury possibly keeping him out of the opening day’s fixtures, Wolves would be willing to take a chance and bring the midfielder to the club.

In the same report, Nuno sees Traore as a vital part of his plans for the coming season. However, since the start of the transfer window, Wolves have spent in the region of £30 million on attackers, with Traore taking their total near to £50 million.

It is still unclear whether he will stay at Middlesbrough or not, but with conflicting reports today, it could go down to the wire.
