Hugill, Middlesbrough set to move for West Ham United striker

Middlesbrough set to move for West Ham United striker

Middlesbrough are set to move for West Ham United’s Jordan Hugill according to a report from TeamTalk.

It looks like head coach Tony Pulis is going to give his strike line a real boost going into this season. It appears that they are going to win the multi-club race to sign Martyn Waghorn from Ipswich Town with a deal of £7m said to be on the cards. However while they will be very happy to get that signing, Pulis also wants an out-and-out striker going into the new season.

Originally, Middlesbrough were trying to sign Sam Vokes from Burnley. But despite the Boro being keen on that move, Burnley don’t want to sell him as they believe he could still play a big part in their season especially with them having extra matches due to their Europa League campaign. But with that move not happening, Middlesbrough are moving onto their next target on the list, Hugill.

This is a move that is much more likely to happen. While West Ham spent a stunning £10m to sign him last summer from Preston North End, he has struggled in East London to make an impact and the Hammers are willing to sell him and cut their losses. And while a number of other teams have been interested in signing Hugill this summer, Middlesbrough have the edge because he is a fan of the club. The 26-year-old striker was raised in Middlesbrough and this would be an ideal chance for him to play his boyhood club.
