Bradford City target Preston North End striker and former Oldham Athletic loanee as a replacement for Charlie Wyke

Bradford City target Preston North End and former Oldham Athletic loanee as a replacement for Charlie Wyke, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

If Charlie Wyke does depart Bradford City maybe this will open the door for the club to bring in Eoin Doyle. According to reports, Bradford City have expressed interest in the striker.

Eoin Doyle is a proven goalscorer in League One, as he showed last season with Oldham Athletic where he scored 16 goals in 34 appearances in all competitions. To add to this, the Irishman scored 25 goals in 33 appearances for Chesterfield during the 2014/15 season. With him not being needed at Preston North End this may lead Bradford City to swoop in for a deal, and would be a massive coup for the club.

It is reported that Eoin Doyle has attracted a host of interest this summer but has been unable to agree terms with different sides. League One side Peterborough United and Ladbrokes Premiership side Aberdeen also had a £300,000 offer accepted, but they too failed to meet what the player wanted.

It’s a massive blow to Bradford City losing Charlie Wyke, Alan Nixon tweeted: “SUNDERLAND. Wyke fee agreed with Bradford. 500 plus 500. All happy. Subject to terms and medical. Doyle at Preston likeliest replacement on loan.”

About Bradford City’s Charlie Wyke –

Wyke has quickly established himself as a fans’ favourite at Bradford after the Bantams signed him from League Two side Carlisle United on transfer deadline day in January 2017. He is a Middlesbrough academy graduate, but he never made a first team appearance and after loan stints at Kettering, Hartlepool United and AFC Wimbledon, he signed for Carlisle United on a free transfer in January 2015.
