Bolton want Ipswich striker as striker chase continues

Bolton Wanderers are looking at Ipswich Town striker Joe Garner according to journalist Alan Nixon. The reported tweeted out saying interest is now “live”. Bolton have been chasing players all summer and recently landed Charlton Athletic striker Josh Magennis. Garner would be considered a coup for Bolton if a deal was agreed.

Joey Garner left Preston North End to head north of the border and help Rangers regain some dominance in Scottish football. Like a few others who made the same move thinking glory and trophies awaited they were sadly mistaken. Garner lasted longer than team-mate Joey Barton but another fellow forward, and someone who followed him to Ipswich Town, Martyn Waghorn, struggled.

The pair did score goals but weren’t the success stories they had been expected to be and Garner was soon being linked with a move away. He took the chance, along with Waghorn to head back south and a deal with Ipswich Town awaited for the pair. Garner is now being linked with a  move away, Waghorn on the brink as is.

Waghorn is expected to move away this summer, a move to Derby County has fallen through because Matej Vydra failed to agree terms with Leeds United. The striker wanted in the region of £50 per week and used the excuse of not knowing Leeds had finished below Derby in the table when the move collapsed. Middlesbrough are now favourites for the player.
