Newcastle United’s talks for Championship forward ‘stalled’

Newcastle United have hit a stumbling block in their negotiations with West Brom regarding striker Salomon Rondon, according to Sky Sports.

Sky Sports News have reported that Newcastle United and West Brom are struggling to come to an agreement over striker Salomon Rondon.

The Venezuelan striker has a £16m release clause in his contract with the Baggies, but the two clubs are failing to come to an agreement over the deal.

West Brom have looked at Newcastle United striker Dwighty Gayle over the summer, and have been linked with both permanent and loan moves for the Toon forward. However, it is thought that West Brom are unwilling to pay Dwight Gayle’s significant wage packet.

If Gayle were to go to The Hawthorns on loan, Newcastle favour a deal which would mean West Brom have to buy the striker at the end of the season. However, West Brom will not agree to their demands.

In another summer where Newcastle struggle with transfer dealings due to owner Mike Ashley’s tight pockets, it is thought that United would prefer a swap deal, which would see Rondon move North and Gayle go the other way.

However, the clubs have failed to strike a deal, and Dwight Gayle remains with his Toon team mates in Portugal ahead of their game with Portuguese side Braga.

Newcastle United have completed the signing of Japanese striker Yoshinori Muto, subject to a work permit. The £9.5m deal means Gayle will be out of the first team picture, and will need to move elsewhere for consistent first team football.
