Could Leeds United be set to lose Pontus Jansson to a Championship rival club?

Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson has been somewhat of a revelation since he moved to Elland Road, winning fans, managers and pundits over with the passion and hunger he shows within each game.

The defenders confidence and assured displays at the back has made him one of Leeds United’s most valuable assets – although that could be under threat in the coming days.

Jansson enjoyed appearances at the World Cup this season with his country Sweden, who reached the quarter finals of the competition before bowing out to Gareth Southgate’s England team and the fact he featured at the World Cup has somewhat helped to boost his stock in the transfer market.

The Swedish centre-half has been subject to interest from West Brom during this transfer window, and with the Baggies centre-half Craig Dawson reportedly attracting interest from a number of clubs, West Brom could quite easily swoop to sign the defender.

The benefit of the Baggies signing Jansson would not only be the fact that he’s a quality Championship defender, but also, the fact he’s already got experience of playing in a partnership with Kyle Bartley, who signed for West Brom earlier in the transfer window.

Jansson and Bartley played a number of games together at Leeds United under Garry Monk and with the two being a recognised partnership, it would make sense for West Brom to attempt to sign Jansson; should Dawson move elsewhere.

it remains to be seen if West Brom will step up interest and attempt to sign Jansson, but the Swedish defender is certainly somebody Leeds United fans don’t want to lose.
