Ipswich Town plotting move for Shrewsbury Town defender

Ipswich Town are keen on signing Shrewsbury Town defender Aristote Nsiala, according to the East Anglian Daily Times.

The Tractor Boys are looking to bolster their defence ahead of the upcoming Championship campaign.

Their new boss, Paul Hurst, is now planning a reunion with his former Shrewsbury Town and Grimsby Town centre-back, Aristote Nsiala. The 26-year-old impressed for the Shrews in League One last season and helped them get to the Play-Off final.

Ipswich Town have delved into the transfer market to sign players from the lower leagues this summer. They have brought in Ellis Harrison from Bristol Rovers, Jordan Roberts from Crawley Town and Gwion Edwards from Peterborough United.

Hurst has also snapped up Chelsea right-back Trevoh Chalobah on a season-long loan but now wants more defenders. He is keen on signing Blackpool’s Curtis Tilt and Accrington Stanley’s Janoi Donacien as well as Nsiala as he looks to tighten up his newly inherited backline .

Nsiala could link up again with the manager who has got the best football out of him in the past. The DR Congo international started his career at Everton but never broke into the first-team at Goodison Park. Instead he had loan spells at Macclesfield Town and Accrington Stanley.

He left Everton in 2012 and has gone onto have spells at Southport, Grimsby Town, Hartlepool and now Shrewsbuty Town. Nsiala has never played at Championship level before but showed last season that he could potentially be ready for the step up.
