Sheffield Wednesday to host fans forum with chairman amid transfer embargo controversy

Sheffield Wednesday are to host a fans forum with chairman Dejphon Chansiri amid rumours they have been placed under a transfer embargo as confirmed by the club website.

There has been a growing disquiet among Wednesday fans this summer. There was an acknowledgement that it wasn’t going to be business as usual this time around, because of their three years of spending a failing to get into the Premier League cutbacks were going to have to be made. So far this has resulted in the releases of Glenn Loovens and Ross Wallace as well the sale of Jack Hunt to Bristol City.

But as the summer has gone on with no indication that Wednesday are going to sign anyone, rumours have been abound that the club have been placed under a transfer embargo. It would make sense with the amount of money the Owls have spent on players in recent years, especially with their Sky Bet Championship rivals Birmingham City confirming that they have been placed under a transfer embargo for their big spending ways.

The club had been criticised for allowing Jos Luhukay to take most of the flack for the lack of openness on this subject. He was left answerless when quizzed by the press on this following their 3-1 pre-season friendly loss to Spanish side Villarreal. But now the chairman will finally answer questions after a fan’s forum was announced to take place next Monday. This will give the fans a chance to ask the chairman directly what has been happening at the club recently in regard to the transfer embargo or any other subject.
