Nottingham Forest are trying to sign former Bristol City, Barnsley and West Brom goalkeeper

Nottingham Forest are trying to sign former Bristol City, Barnsley and West Brom goalkeeper Luke Steele, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Former Bristol City, Barnsley and West Brom goalkeeper looks set to join Nottingham Forest as back up. He will bring a wealth of experience to the club as Nottingham Forest eye up promotion to the Premier League.

Alan Nixon tweeted: “FOREST. Keeper is Luke Steele. Free agent. Cover. Although already had loads of that.”

Goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon has rejoined the club on a permanent basis and will be number 1. Costel Pantilimon spent the second half of last season on loan at Nottingham Forest from Premier League side Watford, but now makes a permanent switch for an undisclosed fee.

The Romanian International made 13 appearances for Nottingham Forest last season, keeping four clean sheets, and has now signed a three-year contract with the club.

Nottingham Forest’s transfer business –

Nottingham Forest have already had an exciting summer with the signings of Benfica’s Joao Carvalho for a club-record fee of £13.2m and completed a season-long loan deal for team-mate Diogo Goncalves.

Carvalho, 21, played eight games for Benfica in 2017-18 and has signed a five-year contract at the City ground.

The loan deal for exciting winger Goncalves, also 21, includes an option to buy at the end of his loan spell.

Carvalho’s transfer fee eclipses Nottingham Forest’s previous record transfer fee, which was for striker Britt Assombalonga, who joined from Peterborough for £5.5m in August 2014.

Nottingham Forest have also completed the signing of Gil Bastiao Dias on a season-long loan from AS Monaco.
