Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and West Brom told how much QPR winger will cost

Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion have been told by QPR that Luke Freeman will cost £3m according to a report from the London Evening Standard.

Earlier in the week, there were reports that Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and West Brom were interested in signing Freeman on loan. All three clubs are looking for some extra quality as the new Sky Bet Championship season closes in and while QPR have been stuck in mid-table for the last few years, Freeman has been one of their top players since signing from Bristol City in January 2017 and has impressed while at Loftus Road. During that time he has scored seven goals in 61 appearances.

The three clubs thought it might be a tougher task than expected signing Freeman as his head coach Steve McClaren had said they wouldn’t be forced to sell any of their top players. They thought Freeman might be available for cheaper than usual because QPR were being forced to pay a large £17m fine due to a breach of Financial Fair Play rules. But because of the way they were paying it, finances won’t be an issue for QPR.

But even so, QPR are still willing to sell Freeman if any interested party is willing to pay the asking price. They have valued Freeman at £3m, a massive uptick on the £350K they reportedly paid for him back at the start of 2017. But now one of those three teams will have to decide if they are willing to pay that much for the former Arsenal man.
