At just 18, Woodburn has represented Wales U15s, U16s, U17s, U19s and the senior team. Chris Coleman gave Woodburn his international début at 17, and opened his account against Austria in a 1-0 victory.

The Wales youngster has not travelled with the Liverpool squad on their pre-season camp to Evian, with his short-term future set to be resolved imminently. Woodburn signed a new contract at Liverpool last year, but manager Jurgen Klopp is keen to send the attacker out on loan to gain some valuable first team experience.

Woodburn comes in as a direct, almost identical replacement for David Brooks, after the youngster departed for Bournemouth for a massive £16m earlier in the window. Much like Brooks, Woodburn is a youthful, versatile forward that can play across the front three and in behind the striker.

Wigan Athletic have also been credited with interest in the Liverpool youngster, but always seemed to be behind Aston Villa and Sheffield United in the race for the 18-year-old’s signature.
