Baldock, Reading closing in on Brighton and Hove Albion striker

Reading closing in on Brighton and Hove Albion striker

Reading are getting close to completing a deal to sign Brighton and Hove Albion’s Sam Baldock according to a report from The Argus.

The 29-year-old striker signed for Brighton in 2014 from Bristol City and has been one of their best strikers over that time. However while he was key in getting the Seagulls into the Premier League, he struggled to keep his spot in the first team when they were in the top tier. He only made two appearances for Brighton last season and both of them came from the bench. This always made it likely that he was going to leave.

And so it seems to be. In a report that has been discussed a lot over the last few weeks, Reading have been trying to sign Baldock as they look to add more of a threat up front. The Royals were disappointing last year as they only just managed to stay in the Sky Bet Championship and will be hoping that this signing could put them back in the promotion race. But the move was put under threat when Sunderland joined the race to sign Baldock with the Black Cats hoping to splash the cash to bring him in.

But playing in the Championship rather than Sky Bet League One was the decider as Baldock is close to signing for Reading. He has agreed personal terms with the Berkshire based club and will undergo his medical in the morning. If everything goes fine with that, Baldock will soon be a Reading player.
