Middlesbrough linked to former West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper

According to The Sun, Middlesbrough are set to make a move for former West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Boaz Myhill, who is currently a free agent after being released from the Baggies this summer.

Goalkeeper Boaz Myhill was released from West Brom following their relegation to the Championship, and is currently looking for a new club. Middlesbrough manager Tony Pulis coached the Welsh international during his time at the Hawthorns and is keen to bring the ‘keeper to Teesside this summer window.

Myhill is still training with West Brom, as a way of maintaining his fitness, and there is reportedly an offer for him to continue playing his football at the club if he chooses to do so. However, as he is currently not registered to any club, Middlesbrough are free to approach the player.

Middlesbrough currently have three goalkeepers on their books, with Darren Randolph, Dimi Konstantopoulos and Connor Ripley all fighting for a space in the team. However, with Ripley having spent a number of seasons out on loan, and Konstantopoulos nearing 40, either could soon depart with Myhill taking their place.

With West Brom offering a deal to Myhill, it is unclear whether the shot stopper would prefer a move away from the Baggies, or to stay at the club he has been at since 2010.

Myhill has played 19 times for the Welsh national team, and retired from international football in 2014 after making his debut in six years earlier in 2008. He chose to play for Wales, despite being born in the USA.
