Match Preview – Chorley vs Fleetwood Town

Non-league outfit Chorley will face League One Fleetwood Town this evening. The match will be played at Victory Park with kick off being at 19:30.

This will be Fleetwood Town’s sixth pre-season friendly of the season. They have already played Salford City, FC ŠTK Šamorín, Zalaegerszegi TE, Tranmere Rovers and Morecombe.

Their first friendly ended in a 4-0 victory for Fleetwood Town. Goals from Harrison BigginsAshley NadesanConor McAleny and Paddy Madden saw them get off to the perfect start.

Their following two friendlies came in a tour of Eastern Europe. They beat Slovakian side,  FC ŠTK Šamorín 4-1 and then registered their third pre-season victory against Hungarian side, Zalaegerszegi TE 2-0.

Their most recent friendly matches came against League Two outfits Morecombe and Tranmere Rovers. Like their previous three games. they all ended in victory. They beat Tranmere 2-0 and Morecombe 3-1.

This is their sixth and final pre-season match and they’re looking to make it a full house of pre-season victories.

Chorley have played six pre-season friendlies so far, having won one, drawn one and lost four.

They beat Euxton Villa 5-0 in their opening friendly and all looked good. Since then they’ve played Tranmere Rovers, Morecombe, Trafford, Blackburn Rovers and Marine. All of those ended in defeats but for one. Their latest game against Marine ended as a 1-1 draw.

The odds are stacked against Chorley to win this one. It should be a fairly routine win for Fleetwood but as we’ve seen in some pre-season friendlies, sometimes it can be far from the case.
