Bristol Rovers are reportedly keen on Forest Green Rovers striker Christian Doidge. The 25-year-old forward has a prolific scoring record for the League Two club and is also being linked with a move north of the border with Europa League side Aberdeen.

The striker started his career at Southampton before heading to Bristol Rovers, both clubs had him in the youth setup before he moved around for a few years. A spell with Dagenham and Redbridge would be the catalyst for his career, after winning both player and players’ player of the year he moved to non-league Forest Green.
Since his move to the League Two club he helped them to promotion and then consolidate, a proud moment for one of the Football League’s smallest, if not the smallest club. He scored goals and caught the eye, Darrell Clarke of Bristol City’s.
Clarke will want a strong year after last season. He has built the club back up and now needs to try to push on. Competing with Scottish Premiership club is a big ask. The standard of football may not be great north of the border but Aberdeen have a very strong side and are still a much bigger pull than Bristol Rovers.
The Scottish club are currently competing in the Europa League qualifiers and drew 1-1 with premier League Burnley just last night, even that took a late Sam Vokes equaliser to stop the Dons, led by Derek McInnis from picking up a win. If they do come in strong it could be a losing battle for Clarke and his club.
