According to Turkish Football, Leeds United are in talks with Senegalese striker Mbaye Diagne over a potential move to Elland Road, and the striker would be expected to make a move to Elland Road if a deal was to be struck for a fee of around £3.6m.
The striker has enjoyed a career in which he’s been at Juventus and spent time with Turkish side Kasımpaşa last season, scoring 12 goals in 17 matches for the Turkish side, who finished 8th in the countries top division last season. Former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte was the one to take Diagne to Juventus in the first place, highlighting the fact that one of the games top managers has seen potential in the forward, which bodes well for the West-Yorkshire club if they move to sign the striker.
Leeds United have been chasing a striker for several weeks and it appears a deal Matej Vydra is no closer before the start of the forthcoming season. The striker wouldn’t have come cheap and it’s thought that to bring last seasons top-scorer in the Championship to Elland Road, it would have cost the West-Yorkshire club around £11/£12 million in transfer fees, alongside a very hefty wage bill.
Leeds United fans have been boosted by the fact that the club have been linked with a number of players recently, including the likes of Jonathan Kodjia and Jordan Hugill, and another player who the club have been linked with in the past few days is Peterborough United’s Marcus Maddison.
With the Whites also expected to sign Wolves left-back Barry Douglas, good news seems to keep flowing at Elland Road – but the club need to push some deals over the line during the next few days, to ensure that they start next season with the strongest XI possible.
It remains to be seen if the West-Yorkshire club will swoop to sign any of the mentioned strikers, but there is a chance that the club could move to sign Diagne before the window is over, which would be a statement of intent, if nothing else.
