Peterborough have finally ended the speculation about Jack Marriott’s future by allowing him to join Derby County. The striker has left Darragh MacAnthony and Posh behind to join Frank Lampard for a fee that is undisclosed and the owner has had his say on player.
Jack Marriott has been one of the transfer sagas of the summer. Derby County has three bids rejected before signing him today and other clubs were interested. Middlesbrough, Bristol City, Leeds United and Nottingham Forest were just some of the clubs looking at the player, Derby eventually getting their man less than two weeks before the season begins.
Just want to personally wish @jackmarriott94 nothing but the best in his move & career which will only go upwards. Fantastic human being, 1st into training/Last to leave each day, genuine class act where 'Ambition over Greed' has paid off for him & his young family.

There was talk yesterday of a fee at £3 million which MacAnthony put to bed quickly, telling fans and media to behave. The owner is very active on social media and that isn’t just surrounding his own club. Fans from all clubs get in touch wig MacAnthony and engage with him over social media, impressed by how open and honest he is, a refreshing and engaging character in modern day football and all that comes with it.
Peterborough have a big season ahead and realistically the club were never ever expecting to keep Marriott, or Marcus Maddison who is also set to leave the club in the coming weeks. Both players impressed heavily last season and making plans for them leaving was always the idea this summer. Steve Evans will wang to gain automatic promotion with this squad and will have known he wasn’t keeping either of his star played since over this window.
