Former Leeds United goalkeeper in talks over move to Chelsea

Former Leeds United goalkeeper Robert Green is in talks with Chelsea, according to the Daily Mail.

The Premier League giants are in the hunt for a new third-choice goalkeeper and have targeted a move for the experienced shot stopper.

Robert Green is a free agent after leaving Huddersfield Town at the end of the season. He did not make a single appearance for the Terriers.

The 38-year-old has got bags of experience and his career spans back to 1999. Green started his career at Norwich City and played over 200 games for the Canaries before he was snapped up by West Ham United in 2006 for around £2 million.

Green spent six years at West Ham and helped them win the Championship Play-offs in 2012. He then moved across London to join QPR in June 2012 on a free transfer. He played 128 games for the Loftus Road side and won the Play-Offs for the second time in his career in 2014.

He then joined Leeds United in July 2016 and was Garry Monk’s first-choice goalkeeper for the 2016/17 season. He was impressive for Leeds during his time at Elland Road. However, he left the Whites after just a single season to join Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town in the Premier League.

A dream move to Chelsea could be on the horizon for Robert Green after a playing career where he has racked up 658 appearances. He does not want to stop there and will be hoping to keep Thibaut Courtois and Willy Cabellero on their toes at Stamford Bridge next season.
