West Brom loan in Leicester City winger

West Bromwich Albion have signed Harvey Barnes from Leicester City on loan for the season as confirmed by the club website.

It has been reported on for a while but West Brom will be happy to finally get Barnes to sign on the dotted line for them. The 20-year-old winger came through the Leicester academy, making his debut in the stunning 5-0 win over FC Porto in the Champions League. Since then he has been loaned out to teams like Barnsley and MK Dons.

But now he will face his toughest task as he has signed a deal which will keep him at West Brom for the season. The Baggies will be looking to bounce right back into the Premier League this season and they will be hoping Barnes’ energy on the wings can help contribute to that. But whatever happens, the experience he will get on this loan will help him to break into the Leicester first team in future.

Following the move, West Brom head coach Darren Moore said: “He is an exciting young player – one that I think our supporters will enjoy watching,”

“We’ve got a lot of exciting youngsters at this club and Harvey now adds to that group.”
“He’s got good experience of the Championship already and I am thrilled at the prospect of him adding his talents to our group. I couldn’t be happier that we have been able to bring him in.”
The club have confirmed that Barnes will play tonight in the pre-season friendly against Barnsley.
