Could Sheffield United and Bradford City agree a swap deal?

Yesterday, we suggested that Sheffield United’s hunt for a striker in this transfer window appears to have suggested that Blades striker Billy Sharp could be on his way to Valley Parade on a loan – with Bradford City reportedly interested in securing a deal for the striker.

It’s thought that Bradford City are keen on a move for the forward, who has an impressive goalscoring record at League One level, with the forward netting 30 goals in 46 games during his last season in the division with Blades, in which they earned promotion as Champions in the 2016/17 season.

Sharp has played for a couple of other clubs in Yorkshire including the Bantams bitter rivals Leeds United and also Doncaster Rovers.

Given the fact that Sheffield United are looking for a new striker though – a move for Bradford City’s Charlie Wyke would be an incredibly clever move for the Blades ahead of the new season.

Bradford City fans have effectively accepted that its unlikely Wyke will be lining up in a Bradford City kit next season, amidst a battle between Bolton Wanderers and Sunderland to secure his signature ahead of the new season.

The 25-year-old scored 15 goals in 40 games for the Bantams last season and at only 25, he’s got plenty of time left in his career to continue progressing.

Wyke would likely be a cheap acquisition for the Blades and would be a player who the club could sell on for a fortune – if a deal worked out. Equally, they could give Bradford City exactly what they want, some cash and another proven goalscorer at League One level.

A deal would make sense on both sides – but if it would happen, remains to be seen.
