Reports – Nottingham Forest target Waghorn valued at £10 million by Ipswich

Martyn Waghorn is at the centre of a transfer tug of war this summer after reigniting his career at Ipswich Town. The ex-Sunderland and Rangers striker didn’t quite hit the heights in Scotland and the move south seemed like a bit of an ask, but he hit the ground running under Mick McCarthy.

Ipswich now reportedly want £10 million for Martyn Waghorn, a target of Nottingham Forest, according to reports. Waghorn is a wanted man and Sheffield United have also been interested, a bid of around £5 million was reported as a bid, despite Leon Clarke and Billy Sharp leading the line so well for the Blades last season.

Ipswich aren’t exactly lighting the world up with their business this summer, going about it quietly and under the radar as they normally do. The Mick McCarthy situation had got completely out of hand last season and eventually he walked. He wasn’t very popular at all, even appearing to taunt the fans after Ipswich scored a late goal at rivals Norwich, before they then conceded a later equaliser.

Waghorn bagged himself a fair share of goals and with Ipswich in a tight financial situation turning down bids isn’t going to be easy, the club aren’t exactly ambitious and he could gain himself a bigger wage and more chance of progressing elsewhere. Whether or not Forest will move for the player remains to be seen, the £6 million signing of Lewis Grabban may well mean they are happy with the striker positions.
