New Peterborough signing ruled out for next six weeks

Peterborough United manager Steve Evans has confirmed that injury means that summer loan signing Adam King will miss the next six weeks. This means he is primed to miss the opening month of the new season, after twisting his knee in the friendly against Bedford.

Injury in that match forced King, who is on loan at London Road from Sky Bet Championship side Swansea City, was unable to take part in the pre-season training camp in Portugal. Evans therefore must do without one of his recruits for the near future. Peterborough have made several signings as they look to battle for promotion.

The central midfielder is one of four currently on the books at the club. Evans also has Anton Rodgers still on trial, and they may look to offer a short-term deal to the son of Celtic manager Brendan in the time being.

Former Leeds United head coach Evans revealed that it is a ‘shame’ about King,

“It’s a shame about Ben King. He was the victim of a bad tackle at Bedford and will be out for six weeks, but at least we haven’t picked up any more knocks in Portugal.

“Anton (Rodgers) is still with us and he’s getting better and fitter. There is no rush to make a decision on him, but he has shown some moments of quality with his passing this summer.”

Elsewhere, Evans is primed to reveal which of Jason Naismith and Alex Woodyard will be handed the Posh captain’s armband for the summer. This will be confirmed prior to this weekend’s friendly with Bolton Wanderers.
