Traore, Tony Pulis admits Middlesbrough will have to sell Adama Traore

Tony Pulis admits Middlesbrough will have to sell Adama Traore

Middlesbrough head coach Tony Pulis has told the Teesside Gazette that they will have to sell Adama Traore.

The 22-year-old winger signed for Middlesbrough in 2016 from Aston Villa following their own relegation to the Sky Bet Championship. Despite some impressive performances, he wasn’t able to keep the Boro in the Premier League but he decided to stick with the club when they fell into the second tier. He would soon become a star player in this league and he was even voted as the 3rd Best Player in the EFL in our Top 50 Players Countdown.

But with Middlesbrough failing to get promoted, instead losing in the play-off semi-finals to Aston Villa, he has been linked with various moves away from Riverside. And it appears that eventually he will leave this summer. When asked about the interest in Traore, his current head coach Pulis admitted there was very little he could do to stop him from going.

When asked, he said: “No, no, no… well we can’t fight it off, if it’s gonna happen it’s gonna happen so he’s a terrific lad and someone who I’ve got the time for and a lot of respect for.”

“Obviously I’ve got a soft spot for the kid.”

“There’s no definites in football, what we’ve got do is make sure if we lose players, then we bring good ones in because that’s important for everybody at the football club.”

“Everybody understands and respects Steve’s view of the football club and what he wants to achieve so hopefully it will be an interesting two weeks.”

“I think usually the best deals are done at the end of the window not during the window.”
