Rotherham United want loan deal for Nottingham Forest midfielder Ryan Yates

Rotherham United are keen on a loan deal for Nottingham Forest midfielder Ryan Yates, according to the Yorkshire Post.

Forest have recently signed Jack Colback on loan again from Premier League side Newcastle United which could free up Ryan Yates to leave on a season-long loan.

Rotherham United are looking to further bolster their squad after last seasons’ promotion from League One and are targeting a move for Yates. The Millers have so far signed Kyle Vassell and Clark Robertson from Blackpool, Zak Vyner from Bristol City and Billy Jones from Sunderland. Their manager, Paul Warne, is hopeful of more deals.

A move for Ryan Yates is now a possibility for the Yorkshire side and Nottingham Forest are eager to loan him out to another Championship side for him to gain experience of playing at this level. The 20-year-old is highly-rated by the Reds’ manager Aitor Karanka.

Yates was born in Lincoln and rose through the youth ranks of Forest’s academy. He has never made a senior appearance for the Reds but has gained plenty of first-team experience during loan spells.

His first loan stint was with Barrow in the National League and he played 19 games for them in the 2016/17 season before he joined Shrewsbury Town for the remainder of that campaign. Yates then spent the first half of last season on loan at Notts County before finishing the season with Scunthorpe United.

Ryan Yates is a promising young talent who would provide Rotherham United with more options in midfield and some more energy into their side.
