Hull City working on deal to sign Manchester City winger

Hull City are closing in on a deal to sign Manchester City winger Brandon Barker, according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

The Premier League champions would be willing to sell the 21-year-old for the right price and Hull are working on a deal to bring him to the KCOM Stadium.

The Championship side have been busy bolstering their squad for next season and their manager, Nigel Adkins, has opted to sign young players who he can help develop and progress as a team. The likes of Reece Burke from West Ham United, Jordy de Wijs from PSV Eindhoven, Todd Kane from Chelsea and David Milinkovic from Genoa have joined the club so far.

Brandon Barker fits the bill of Hull’s transfer policy and could be the next through the door at Cottingham training ground for the Tigers.

Barker was born in Manchester and joined City’s academy when he was eight years-old. He has played once for their first-team when he came off the bench in an FA Cup tie against Chelsea in February 2016.

He has gained plenty of first-team experience out on loan and has spent time on loan at Rotherham United, Dutch Eredivisie side NEC Breda and last season with Hibernian. Barker played 30 games for the Edinburgh side in the last campaign and scored twice.

It appears he does not have a future at Manchester City but a move to Hull City on a permanent basis would be a great opportunity for Barker to make a name for himself.
