Tom Lees discusses fitness ahead of new Sheffield Wednesday season

Sheffield Wednesday’s Tom Lees has told the Sheffield Star that he is fit and ready and raring to go for the new season.

It was a nightmare for the Owls last season as many of their best players would suffer long-term injuries which kept them out for months at a time. One of the biggest blows they suffered was an injury to star centre-back Lees who would end up being out for three months. Considering the influence he has on the first team, this was a massive blow to everyone involved with the club.

He would eventually return towards the end of the season and in something that can’t be a coincidence, the club’s form in the Sky Bet Championship started to improve. And anyone concerned that Lees won’t be ready for the new season has now been told otherwise as he has said he has never felt better going into the 2018/19 campaign.

He said: “I feel fit and healthy. I feel as good as I have ever done,”

“I finished last season off fit, so I was happy with that, and I have worked really hard to come back as fit as I can. I’m enjoying being back in training.”

“Now, from what I have learned before, I’m just trying to change little things to try and keep healthy,”

“I’ve always been pretty strict with myself, to be fair, and stayed in good shape, but maybe it is just about doing the right things at the right time – not trying to do too much and obviously doing the exercises to keep on top of any little niggles you might have.”
