12 goals in 17 games – Could Leeds United be set to sign their new Robbie Fowler?

Leeds United have been linked with a number of forwards during this transfer window, and they’ve most recently been linked with Senegalese forward Mbaye Diagne in the past few days.

The striker has enjoyed a career in which he’s been at Juventus and spent time with Turkish side Kasımpaşa last season, scoring 12 goals in 17 matches for the Turkish side, who finished 8th in the countries top division last season.

This was an incredible goalscoring return and may not be one too dissimilar to ex-Leeds forward Robbie Fowler, who scored a rather incredible return for the Whites with 14 goals in 30 games for the West-Yorkshire club.

Leeds United have been chasing a striker for several weeks and it appears Matej Vydra is no longer top of Leeds United’s wish-list for the forthcoming season. The striker wouldn’t have come cheap and it’s thought that to bring last seasons top-scorer in the Championship to Elland Road, it would have cost the West-Yorkshire club around £11/£12 million in transfer fees, alongside a very hefty wage bill.

Leeds United fans have been boosted by the fact that the club have been linked with a number of players recently, including the likes of Jonathan Kodjia and Jordan Hugill, and player who the club have been heavily linked with in the past few days is Peterborough United’s Marcus Maddison.

It remains to be seen if the West-Yorkshire club will swoop to sign any of the mentioned players, but there is a chance that the club could move to sign Diagne before the window is over, which would be a statement of some business, after a relatively fruitless transfer window thus far.
