Stoke City still massive favourites to sign Premier League winner

Championship club Stoke are still the massive favourites, with online bookmakers Sky Bet, to sign former Premier League champion Robert Huth, who is now a free agent.

With the standard of clubs in the Championship being so high everyone will be looking to strengthen and Robert Huth would certainly be a great signing for any club in that  division. The former Premier League champion has lots of experience playing alongside England’s best talent which will help out massively next campaign should Stoke City sign him.

The 33-year-old is now out of contract at Leicester City and is officially a free agent. The big German central defender has spent a large chunk of his career at both Middlesbrough and Stoke City. He spent three years up in the North East at Boro where he made a total of 62 appearances for the club. After Boro he moved immediately down to Stoke  City where he made a massive 188 appearances in just five and a half years.

Stoke City have been linked with Aston Villa’s James Chester for quite a while now and Stoke manager Gary Rowett is a known admirer of the Welshman. Clearly Stoke City are looking for a new central defender following their relegation from the Premier League. Who better to sign than a former Premier League winner and bags of experience under his belt.

The towering defender would be an incredible signing and Huth is, of course, a free agent which means the deal would cost Stoke City absolutely nothing in transfer fees.
