Sheffield United want to sign Ipswich Town striker Martyn Waghorn, as reported by The72 earlier today.
The Blades are getting busy in the transfer market now and are keen on getting deals done for Waghorn and Brentford’s John Egan. They have so far signed Dean Henderson on loan from Manchester United but new signings are expected.
Their manager, Chris Wilder, is looking to reinvest the £12 million they received from AFC Bournemouth for David Brooks into new players. Martyn Waghorn is wanted by Sheffield United to add some firepower into their attack.
The 28-year-old only joined Ipswich Town last summer from Scottish Premier League side Rangers on a two-year deal. He scored 16 goals for the Tractor Boys but they could cash him on him in this transfer window to avoid losing him on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Waghorn has got bags of experience in the Championship and would be an impressive signing for Sheffield United. He has previously played for Sunderland, Charlton Athletic, Leicester City, Hull City, Millwall and Wigan Athletic in this division.
Here is how Sheffield United fans have reacted to the news that they are after him on Twitter-

Surely we can’t be spending £9m+ in a transfer window? 😳 #sufc
