Ex-Brighton midfielder chases Charlton Athletic contract

South London Press understands that former Brighton & Hove Albion central midfielder Rohan Ince is now training with Sky Bet League One side Charlton Athletic. The 25-year-old is looking to impress Addicks caretaker boss Lee Bowyer enough to earn himself a contract at The Valley.

Ince saw his five-year stint as a Brighton player come to an end this summer. Whilst he made just under 100 appearances for the club during that period, he has found himself away on loan for most of the recent time period. He would end last season on loan at Bury, who would be relegated out of Sky Bet League One.

Bowyer, who is yet to be handed the Charlton job permanently, recently stated that a player was set to link up with his squad to try and earn himself a deal. Ince is indeed that man, and the former Chelsea youngster shall now look to do all he can to tie himself down to a spot in the squad.

Darren Pratley signed earlier this week, meaning that the central midfield spot is seemingly an area that the former Leeds United midfielder wants to bolster. Charlton made the League One play-offs last season, eventually losing in the semi-finals to Shrewsbury Town, who themselves lost out in the Wembley final to Rotherham United.

Ince shall be looking to make his unofficial debut for the club this weekend as Crawley Town are the opposition.

The surname Ince obviously rings a bell to all English football club. Rohan is indeed the third cousin of Paul Ince, the former England international that also played for the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Inter.
